Amir Vahedi was born in Teheran, Iran. After fighting in the Iran-Iraqi war, he fled to Germany where he applied for refugee status, eventually joining his brother in California. He began playing poker in 1997 and has done well - his aggressive and unpredictable style of play has earned him nearly 2 million dollars so far. He is also one of the pro poker players who instructed and coached celebrity and part-time poker player, Ben Affleck.
