Amir Vahedi was born in Teheran, Iran. After fighting in the Iran-Iraqi war, he fled to Germany where he applied for refugee status, eventually joining his brother in California. He began playing poker in 1997 and did verywell - his aggressive and unpredictable style of play has earned him over 2 million dollars. He was also one of the pro poker players who instructed and coached celebrity and part-time poker player, Ben Affleck.

At the table, he was a big presence with his big Cuban cigars and his sense of humor.

Sadly, Amir passed away in early 2010 of complications from diabetes.
