Party Poker - Review

Meet the giant of online poker ...

With tens of thousands of players online at any given time, Party Poker is by far the world's largest online poker room! While part of that popularity is due to an aggressive advertising campaign, a good part of it is also due to the fact that Party Poker has thousands of games and tournaments, attractive promos and offer a user-friendly environment for new players.

Online poker giant Party Poker runs like a well-oiled machine. The software is attractive and reliable, with clean graphics and a user interface that is simple to use, even for a rank beginner. Players can take notes about fellow players, view hand history and view some basic player statistics. Tthere's an automatic table resize feature, which is convenient if you are watching multiple tables. We wish the lobby showed flop percentages for those thousands of tables, but overall Party Poker offers plentiful promos and a reliable and pleasant environment for playing poker.

One of the best things about Party Poker is the recent integration of Poker Academy's award winning Poker Trainer into their free software. Poker trainer lets you configure your own private practice table, complete with 3 levels of play, a selectable number of virtual opponents, a hand evaluator, an advisor window and session statistics. It's a great feature both for beginners and advanced players looking to fine-tune their play - Poker Trainer makes it well worth taking a minute to download the free Party Poker software.

Games offered: Texas Hold 'Em (Limit and No Limit)
Omaha (Hi and Hi-Low, Fixed limit, pot limit or no limit)
7 Card Stud (fixed limit only)

Party Poker's parent company, Party Gaming, also offers Party Bingo, Party Casino and Party Backgammon.(Blackjack, video poker and other casino games)
Promos / Bonuses Loyalty bonus, Frequent player points program (trade points for everything from Party Poker hats to iPods and PSP's), redeposit bonuses. Frequent special promotions - recent promos have included car giveaways, WSOP satellites, ticket sweepstakes drawings, and a chance to appear on TV's Late Night Poker Ace 2.
Traffic: Party Poker is a online poker site. You can find virtually any kind of ring game or tournament you want, at any time of the day - even in off-peak hours.
Competition: Being a popular first stop for new players, competition at Party Poker is quite soft even up through the middle-limit games. If you want more of a challenge, try the higher-stakes tables.
Software: Party Poker's software features clean graphics and a reliable, well-designed user interface. Easy to use, even if you are a new player.
Features: Player Notes
Hand History
Basic player statistics
Auto Table Resize
Poker Trainer software
- Party Poker has integrated Poker Academy's award winning poker trainer into their free software.
Tournaments: Party Poker is a very high-traffic site with a 24/7 schedule featuring numerous tournaments. The most popular high-profile tournament at Party Poker is the annual Party Poker Million.
Deposits: NetTeller, Visa, MasterCard, Western Union, Firepay, eChecks (iGM Pay), cashier's check, money order, Citadel (USA), check, bank draft.
Cash-Out: Echecks (by iGM Pay), check or wire transfer

The Good: Attractive, easy-to-use software with thousands of ring games and tournaments to choose from at any time. Free access to award-winning Poker Trainer software - a big plus for new players or anyone looking to improve their game!
The Bad:

You'd think that a huge player like Party Poker could develop software for all platforms, but their software only runs on Microsoft Windows. Mac users can run it under Virtual PC but it's an awkward workaround. The rake is also a little higher than some of the other top poker rooms.

The bottom line: Despite being a high-traffic site, Party Poker is beginner-friendly and that huge volume of traffic makes it a place where you can find any kind of game at any time of day or night. The software is attractive and reliable and the Poker Trainer feature is an added plus.
